October 25 – Provo Day, Andrey Day. Have you looked at the stars lately? Look today
CrimeaPRESS reports:
This day was also called Andron, Prov, Andron the astrologer. Why? From noon to midnight on this day, our ancestors watched the stars, predicting weather changes and the future harvest by their behavior. The people considered Andron a wise astrologer. It was said that he “could scoop up stars with a scoop and reach the sky with a pole.” Plus, for some reason Saint Prov was also associated with the stars.
The people also believed that the stars influence the life events of every person. People believed that as many stars as there are in the sky, there are as many people living on earth. A man is born and a star lights up. Accordingly, the shooting star spoke of someone’s death. Comets were seen by our ancestors as harbingers of future wars, misfortunes, epidemics and crop failures.
On October 25, one could not laugh loudly; a person could expose himself to terrible torture. People were also afraid of inadvertently offending someone, otherwise the offender would not be happy. You also shouldn’t ask in response to a knock on the door: “Who’s there?” — this question can bring misfortune and misfortune into the house.
The Church today honors the memory of three martyrs: Provos, Andronikos and Tarakh, who suffered for their faith in Christ during the persecution organized by Emperor Diocletian, known for his intolerance towards supporters of Christian teaching. Three preachers were captured and brought to the emperor for trial. When they did not want to renounce their faith in Christ, they were subjected to numerous tortures, which they endured steadfastly. The ruler, having lost faith that it was possible to convince the arrested, ordered them to be thrown into a ditch with wild animals, but the predators did not touch them. Subsequently, the heads of the three martyrs were cut off.
