CrimeaPRESS reports:
Today, 98% of the population of the Republic of Crimea is provided with mobile communications; actual coverage has exceeded 70% of the republic’s area. Sergey Aksyonov reported this on his Telegram channel.
As the Head of Crimea emphasized, high-quality and stable communications are a necessary condition for the comfortable life of every person and an important factor in the socio-economic development of the region.
Over the past years, much has been done in the republic to modernize the mobile communication network; new base stations have been built and put into operation. Currently, Crimean operators use 4,800 base stations. Most of them were built since 2016. Next year it is planned to install 60 more– shared the Head of the Republic.
At the same time, the implementation of state programs made it possible to provide mobile communications to 60 small settlements, including 38 in 2024.
Sergei Aksyonov noted that work continues in several areas, including improving the quality of communications and increasing the coverage of the territory, introducing new technologies and modernizing existing communications facilities, replacing sanctioned equipment with Russian analogues and analogues of friendly countries.
The head of the republic added that after the allocation of radio frequencies for the deployment of the 5G network, Crimean telecom operators are ready to begin developing investment projects, purchasing equipment, installing base stations and upgrading existing ones to provide Crimeans with a new generation of mobile communications.
