Officially: inflation in Crimea was accelerated by prices for vegetables and poultry meat
CrimeaPRESS reports:
Reduced supply of certain products and rising costs for producers due to the weakening of the ruble were the main factors that accelerated annual inflation in Crimea in June to 4.4% after 3.8% in May.
At the start of the summer season, prices for cabbage accelerated in the region, prices for carrots rose, and prices for potatoes and beets slowed down. The volumes of supplies of these vegetables from some neighboring regions to local markets have decreased compared to last year, while imported vegetables, in turn, have risen in price due to the weakening of the ruble.
Due to the rise in the cost of foreign components — equipment, spare parts and feed additives — the costs of poultry farms have increased. At the same time, the supply of poultry meat decreased, including due to the outbreak of bird flu in some producing regions. As a result, in the Crimea, the annual growth rate of prices for chicken meat increased and chicken legs went up in price.
At the same time, thanks to the expansion of domestic production and the establishment of import supplies, including through alternative channels, the supply of perfumes and cosmetics, household chemicals has increased. As a result, annual growth in prices for shampoo, shower gel, deodorants, face cream and laundry soap slowed down. In addition, the prices for liquid cleaners and detergents fell faster than in May in annual terms. The dynamics was also affected by the statistical effect of the last year’s base. In June 2022, prices for these goods grew due to the gradual reduction of their stocks due to the suspension of activities in Russia of certain foreign companies and the disruption of logistics.
According to the forecast of the Bank of Russia, taking into account the ongoing monetary policy, annual inflation in Russia will be 5-6.5% in 2023, and then return to 4% in 2024 and will be close to 4% in the future.
