What is the reason for the termination of the Olympic Council of the Republic of Crimea?
The fact is that the Olympic Committee of Russia (OKR) excluded regional councils from its composition (including Crimean). At one time, the inclusion in the OKR of the Olympic Councils of the new constituent entities of the Russian Federation was the reason for the removal of the country from international competitions.
Combining two positions recently, the Minister of Sports of Russia and President of the OKR, Mikhail Degtyarev, recently stated that the Russian Olympic Committee eliminated the last barrier on the way to return to the international arena.
Now there are not even formal reasons for the ban, which we have already reported in the IOC— the official emphasized.
