An open domino tournament dedicated to Russia Day and City Day will take place in Sevastopol on June 14.
Compete, reports «Sevastopol newspaper», will be on the territory of the Anna Akhmatova Park according to the Swiss system, the sports department reported. All interested citizens of the Russian Federation are allowed to participate, without gender and age restrictions, but in appropriate physical condition, which will allow them to play in the tournament without harm to their own health.
Registration of tournament participants will begin at 8.00. You will need to fill out a form and present a passport or birth certificate for persons under 14 years of age.
The drawing of lots will begin at 8.20, for which 20 minutes are allotted, then the grand opening. All seven rounds are scheduled to be played in “The Goat” by two o’clock in the afternoon.
Dominoes are a game that brings people together. It’s not for nothing that domino players are often neighbors or friends. Holding this domino tournament will give a chance to prove oneself, and for some, to learn how to play, — suggested the head of the sports department Sergei Reznichenko.
At 14.20 there will be an award ceremony for the winners and runners-up and the closing ceremony of the tournament.
Dominoes are an international sport; player ratings are compiled based on the results of championships. A classic set is considered to be a set of 28 dominoes, each of which is divided into two equal parts containing a certain number of dots.
As Larisa Evdokimova, head of the department for the development of physical culture, mass and adaptive sports, told Sevastopolskaya Gazeta, dominoes are not the most popular sport in Sevastopol. The initiator of the tournament is the Russian Domino Federation. Representatives of this all-Russian public organization will come to judge the competition on June 14.
The Sports Administration took precautions when preparing the tournament. Counting on the existing city federations: Sevastopol chess and checkers players will play. There are people who know how to play dominoes in the Main Directorate of the Ministry of Emergency Situations of Russia for Sevastopol and in the department of the Ministry of Internal Affairs. They are also invited to competitions.
The tournament is held to popularize and further develop the game of dominoes in the Russian Federation, promote a healthy lifestyle, organize leisure time and mass involvement of the population in active physical education and sports.
