On Saturday, December 9, in Sevastopol, as well as throughout the country, the Day of Heroes of the Fatherland was celebrated.
Governor of Sevastopol Mikhail Razvozhaev, Minister of Construction and Housing and Communal Services of the Russian Federation Irek Faizullin, Deputy Minister of Defense of the Russian Federation Timur Ivanov, Commander-in-Chief of the Russian Navy Nikolai Evmenov, Commander of the Black Sea Fleet Viktor Sokolov, Chief Federal Inspector for Sevastopol Alexander Akulov and Speaker of the Legislative Assembly Vladimir The Germans laid flowers at the memorial to the heroic defense of Sevastopol 1941-1942.
We honor our Heroes. And we will always remember their exploits! But not all heroes wear orders and medals. On this day, I also want to say thank you to all the heroes who are next to us. After all, those who are bravely fighting the enemy on the front line today are our heroes. And the doctors who save the lives of soldiers are our heroes. And the families that support and wait for their fighters are our heroes. And those who work in the rear, help the front, collecting humanitarian aid are our heroessaid Governor Mikhail Razvozhaev.
Heroes of the Fatherland Day is a memorable date in Russia, dedicated to the day of veneration of the Holy Great Martyr George the Victorious. The highest military award was given to those who showed special valor in battle.
In the modern history of the country, in 2007, the tradition of honoring heroes was revived by Russian President Vladimir Putin.
