On Earth Day in Tauric Chersonesos, they took care of the cleanliness of the Antique Road
CrimeaPRESS reports:
On April 22, the employees of the Museum-Reserve, together with the volunteers of the Resource Center for Supporting Volunteerism of Sevastopol, put things in order on the territory of the Antique Road sections No. 4 and No. 5 (in the area of Omega Bay). On International Mother Earth Day, this cultural heritage site was completely cleared of household waste.
The museum-reserve manages more than 30 sites within the city limits of Sevastopol. All of them are part of the chora (agricultural district) of Tauric Chersonesos. Antique road in the area of Pavel Korchagin Street and Antichny Prospekt is a significant archaeological monument IV century BC e., which has the status of a cultural heritage site (OCH) and is included in the UNESCO list. Unfortunately, despite the regular subbotniks, in which the employees of the institution, volunteers and caring residents of Sevastopol take part, construction and household waste reappears in this area. For this reason, on Earth Day, the staff of the museum-reserve took up the cleaning of the Antique Road with enthusiasm. Thanks to the cohesion of employees, the support of the volunteers of the Sevastopol Resource Center for Volunteering Support, as well as the general desire to put these territories in order, sections No. 4 and No. 5 were completely vacated from garbage, — noted in the press service of the museum-reserve «Tauric Chersonesos».
In three hours, more than 250 bags of plastic and glass bottles, plastic bags, candy wrappers, paper and other household waste were collected.
We thank all those who are not indifferent, who came to the subbotnik! With your help, we were able to completely clear the Chersonese choir area near Antichny Prospekt from debris. We hope that your example will inspire many people and show the importance of joint efforts in preserving the historical and cultural heritage. Thank you very much and see you soon! museum experts say.
