The exhibition located in the tower reveals the role of the mound in the first defense of Sevastopol.
February 23 will mark the 61st anniversary of the opening of the exhibition in the defensive tower of the Kornilov Bastion, which is located on the Malakhov Kurgan in Sevastopol. According to Tourist portal of Crimea, in honor of this date, you can visit the heroic place for free. The museum exhibition, opened in 1963, immortalized the immortal feat of the defenders of Sevastopol during the Crimean War.
During the defense of Sevastopol in 1854-1855, the main bastion of the Ship Side was built on the Malakhov Kurgan, which was part of the IV distance of the defensive line, which until March 7, 1855 was commanded by Rear Admiral V.I. Istomin. Malakhov Kurgan was a strategic point that determined the meaning of the defense of Sevastopol. At the end of August 1855, Allied troops captured the bastions of the Malakhov Kurgan, essentially forcing the Russian troops to retreat— said at the Museum of Defense of Sevastopol.
As part of the open day on February 23 from 10:00 to 17:30, everyone will be able to freely visit the defensive tower. In addition, from 10:30 to 16:30, every hour, there will be free excursions.
