On Friday night, a strong magnetic storm covered the earth
Krympress reports:
On Friday night, a magnetic storm covered the earth. This was reported in the laboratory of sunny astronomy of the Institute of Cosmic Research and the Institute of Sun Earth Physics.
On Earth, a magnetic storm that reached the G2.3 level is registered and does not stop. The score of the G2.3 event is higher than the average level and exceeds the threshold, starting from which the influence on energy systems and the distribution of radio waves becomes noticeable— said in the message.
The reasons for the storm are currently not obvious, scientists noted. Measuring instruments showed in the last hours a noticeable increase in plasma density, as well as induction of the magnetic field in the solar wind surrounding the Earth. At the same time, the plasma speed (the main indicator of the arrival of mass emissions or the flow of a substance from the coronal hole) is not increased.
Scientists also said that in the next day (on the night of June 13 to 14), the beginning of the influence of the Earth of a large coronal hole is predicted, well visible now in the southern hemisphere of the sun. This suggests that the Earth currently interacts with a dense substance on the edge of the coronal hole.
Inside the coronal holes of the plasma, as correctly, is very rarefied, which is sometimes compensated by the density jump at their boundaries. If so, then the speed of the solar wind, which is still unchanged, may begin to grow earlier than the graphics today, June 13, during the day, scientists warn. And they note that the duration and possible force of the current storm is difficult to predict.
So far, it is only possible to state that the planet is prematurely included in the 2-3-day segment of a complex geomagnetic environment with strong fluctuations in geomagnetic indices. With the past passage of this hole in front of the Earth, in May 2025, the peak values of the then magnetic storms registered then were in the G2-G3 range— said in the message.
A new sunny blow on the planet is also expected on June 24 and 25. According to scientists, these days the geomagnetic disturbances of the level G1 will again fall on Earth.
Then, within three days, the geomagnetic situation will remain excited, scientists added.
On June 4, a magnetic storm ended in the morning, which lasted within 66 hours Almost without breaks. It has become the longest since April 2017. During the period of geomagnetic disturbances, doctors It is recommended to rest normallyeat, abandon excessive emotional and physical activity, but do not forget about morning exercises.
