On July 5, Sevastopol celebrates the Day of the Defender of the Count's Quay
CrimeaPRESS reports:
On this day in 2008, Ukrainian servicemen, without any permits, wanted to install a sign “90th anniversary of the founding of the Ukrainian fleet” on the wall of the Grafskaya Pier. Residents of the city came to the defense of the symbol of Sevastopol.
The inhabitants of the Hero City could not stand the attempt to rewrite history. Real Sevastopol residents broke through the police ring, tore off and drowned the sign in the sea. Until the return of Sevastopol and Crimea to Russia, prosecutions of patriots continued.— the press service of the Government of Sevastopol quotes Governor Mikhail Razvozhaev.
In 2015, the Legislative Assembly of Sevastopol officially included the Day of the Defender of the Count’s Quay in the list of holidays and memorable dates of the Hero City.
Night shifts at the monument to Empress Catherine II, the «Sevastopol Ritual», the protection of the Grafskaya Pier — all these events brought the Russian spring closer. Thus, united by a common idea and loyalty to the Motherland, Sevastopol residents wrote the latest history of the city and the country,” the head of the city notes.
