On the forged map of Russia in Simferopol — current changes: in metal — new regions of the country

For the Day of National Unity in Simferopol, the art object “Time of Crimea. Map of Russia». This forged map of the country measuring 10 by 4 meters, weighing 15 tons, with regional symbols is located in the capital’s park named after. Treneva.
This year, the map has been expanded with new regions in order to be relevant both politically and geographically.
In a solemn atmosphere, hour segments of the newly annexed regions of the Russian Federation were chained to the monument: Donetsk and Lugansk People’s Republics, Zaporozhye and Kherson regions. On the iron map of Russia they have symbols emphasizing their traditions and characteristics: Donetsk — Mertsalov’s palm tree, Lugansk — worker, Zaporozhye region — atom, and Kherson region — watermelon and anchor.
Last year, the Donetsk and Lugansk people’s republics, the Kherson and Zaporozhye regions became part of Russia. Millions of residents of these territories, like the Crimeans in their time, consciously made the most important and long-awaited choice, following the path of reunification with their native country. And the hour is not far when all Russian lands will return to Russia. After all, historical truth is always on the side of the united people. We are expanding our geography and, together with new entities, we are building a united, strong Russia,” commented Vice Speaker of the Crimean Parliament Efim Fiks.
The object, which is a sundial in the form of a forged map of Russia, was opened in Crimea on November 2, 2019, on the Day of National Unity. About 300 craftsmen took part in the creation of the 10-meter, 15-ton map. The artistic composition includes symbols of the regions of our country. The Crimean peninsula on the map is connected to the mainland by a forged miniature Crimean Bridge.
The opening of the updated composition took place as part of the blacksmith art festival “Time of Russia”. Restoration work began on October 25, with the participation of about 150 craftsmen from different parts of the country. 50 of them arrived from new regions, where they forged symbols of their regions to attach them to the big map and immortalize them in history.
