On the occasion of the 130th anniversary of the classic of Crimean Tatar literature Bekir Choban-zade, archival documents and photographs are presented

The exhibition was presented at the Crimean Tatar Museum of Cultural and Historical Heritage.
The exhibition «Bekir Choban-zade — the first professor of the East» was presented at the Crimean Tatar Museum of Cultural and Historical Heritage, dedicated to the 130th anniversary of the outstanding Turkologist, Doctor of Philology, classic of Crimean Tatar literature, teacher and public figure Bekir Choban-zade.
According to the press service of the Ministry of Culture of the Republic of Crimea, the exposition presents archival documents, photographs, books, video chronicles, memories of his sister Zuleikha, a map of his life path, introducing the versatility of an outstanding personality, his contribution to the development of language, science and culture.
The event was opened by the director of the museum, Safiye Eminova, noting the importance of Bekir Choban-zade in the Turkic-speaking world.
On behalf of the Minister of Culture of the Republic of Crimea Tatyana Manezhina, the head of the department of museum affairs Oksana Alekseeva delivered a welcoming speech. Also addressed to those present was Islyam Useinov, adviser to the head of the administration of the city of Simferopol; Doctor of Philology, Director of the Research Institute of Crimean Tatar Philology, History and Culture of the Crimean Ethnoses Ismail Kerimov; Candidate of Philological Sciences Nariman Abdulvaapov; Candidate of Historical Sciences Dilyara Abibullayeva. Actress of the Crimean Tatar State Academic Music and Drama Theater Susanna Barabasheva read the poem «Mermaid» by Bekir Choban-zade— the press service of the Ministry of Culture of the Republic of Crimea told about the opening of the exhibition.
At the end of the event, a film was shown about the First All-Union Turkological Congress in the city of Baku (1926).
REFERENCE: Bekir Choban-zade was born in Karasubazar (now the city of Belogorsk) on May 15 (27), 1893, studied at the Galatasaray College of Istanbul University, then at the University of Budapest, defended his doctoral dissertation. From 1921 to 1925 worked at the Crimean University. M.V. Frunze.
Between 1925 and 1929 He was the head of the department and dean of the Oriental Faculty of the Azerbaijan State University. Actively participated in the work of the All-Union Central Committee of the New Turkic Alphabet. In 1930-1935. he headed the department of the Uzbek language at the Fergana Pedagogical Institute, taught at the Tashkent University and the Bukhara Pedagogical Institute, was elected a member of the Azerbaijan branch of the USSR Academy of Sciences, in 1935 — a member of the Parisian Linguistic Society. The scientific works of the scientist include more than 150 articles and monographs on Turkology and literary criticism. B. Choban-zade is a classic of national literature, the author of poems included in the golden fund of the poetry of the Turkic peoples. January 28, 1937 arrested in Kislovodsk, executed on October 13. In 1957 he was rehabilitated by the Supreme Court of the USSR.
