On the occasion of the 240th anniversary of Sevastopol, the highest worship cross in Crimea was installed on the Balaklava Mount Tavros
CrimeaPRESS reports:
A worship cross 15 meters high was installed in Sevastopol as a gift for the 240th anniversary of the founding of the city. The cross became the highest on the territory of the Crimean peninsula. On one side of the cross is depicted the miraculous image of the Savior, on the reverse side of the cross is the image of the Mother of God.
According to the governor of Sevastopol, Mikhail Razvozhaev, the cross was made at the expense of Orthodox employees of the Balaklava Mine Administration named after A. M. Gorky. It was installed on the Balaklava mountain Tavros.
The ceremony of consecrating the cross was performed by Bishop Kallinik of Bakhchisarai, vicar of the Simferopol and Crimean diocese, co-served by the dean of the Sevastopol district, Archpriest Sergius Khalyut, and the clergy of the city of Sevastopol.
The cross is the guardian of the entire universe, and at the present time, when our country is especially tested for strength, the installation of such worship crosses is essential— noted in the Sevastopol deanery.
