On the results of the swimming season and interim fire statistics in the Ministry of Emergency Situations of Russia for the city of Sevastopol

CrimeaPRESS reports:

The seasons associated with certain risks and their results were discussed at the Main Directorate of the Russian Ministry of Emergency Situations for the city of Sevastopol at a meeting with journalists. The swimming season in Sevastopol is over. Maria Tymoshenko, assistant chief (public relations) and head of the press service of the Sevastopol emergency department, spoke about its results:

In 2023, in the territory of Sevastopol, in accordance with the Government Decree, 26 beaches officially functioned. During the swimming season, 20 incidents on the water were registered, in 2022 — 14. Unfortunately, 16 people died. On the beaches “Serebryany”, “Ushakova Balka”, “Solnechny” and “Pesochny”, as well as in places not equipped for swimming, the bodies of the dead were removed from the water. The most resonant and tragic incident in 2023 was the incident on Omega Beach. For the first time in five years, a child drowned in the region — a boy born in 2016. 10 accidents were prevented. Including four children, assistance was provided — they were promptly delivered from the water to land by rescue sailors.

Denis Vychegzhanin, Deputy Head of the Department of Supervisory Activities and Preventive Work of the Sevastopol Emergency Department, introduced the audience to the interim statistics of the fire season, which in our region began in April and has not yet been completed:

During the fire season — from April 3 — more than 470 fires occurred in Sevastopol, a decrease of 7.5% compared to last year. Over the specified period of time, there is also a slight decrease in cases of burning of dry vegetation: in 2023 — 167 cases, in 2022 — 178 cases, a decrease of 6.2%. To date, there have been 6 natural fires, the total area of which was just over two hectares. Thanks to the timely detection and response of firefighters, it was possible to avoid tragic consequences in the form of wildfires spreading to populated areas and forests. No major wildfires have been recorded.

They also talked about the work of sappers of the Russian Ministry of Emergency Situations, for whom the warm season is also a “hot season.” In 2023, they discovered and neutralized 5,502 explosive objects from the Great Patriotic War on the territory of Sevastopol. We also touched upon the currently relevant topic of actions when passing the “Attention everyone!” signal. Deputy Head of the Civil Defense and Population Protection Department Marina Zasypkina spoke about the rules. In addition, the head of the department of personnel, educational work and vocational training, Dmitry Onishchenko, explained how you can join the Russian Ministry of Emergency Situations in the city of Sevastopol.
