During the event of Maria Kataeva, a Fitin medal was awarded-a reward for patriotism, established in honor of Lieutenant General Pavel Mikhailovich, who headed the foreign intelligence of the USSR during the Great Patriotic War.

Maria Dmitrievna Kataeva was born on April 7, 1925 in the Altai Territory. At 6, she moved to Novosibirsk along with her parents. Here she graduated from 7 classes of a comprehensive school. In 1940, Maria Dmitrievna entered the aviation college. A year later, the war began, and students were sent to work at the aviation plant. V.P. Chkalov in the city of Novosibirsk. From February 1944 to April 1955, Maria Dmitrievna was military service in UNKGB in sergeant and officer positions. In 1947, she was seconded to the city of Sverdlovsk, where she continued her work as a military censor. It was in Sverdlovsk that the veteran met her husband.
