Yesterday, two «landscape» fires were extinguished on the territory of the Yalta Forest Nature Reserve. Investigators from the Yalta and Alushta city supervision departments conducted an inspection. Officially: people are to blame. Careless tourists. And it was not dead wood that burned, but the protected forest.
The first fire in Yalta was caused by careless handling of fire as a result of smoking. The fire started on a path leading to a spring. A discarded cigarette butt could have destroyed forest litter on an area of 0.13 hectares.
The cause of the fire in Alushta was a bonfire lit in a forest area, which spread to the forest floor, dry vegetation and trees. The fire was extinguished on an area of 0.46 hectares.
The Main Directorate of the Ministry of Emergency Situations of Russia for the Republic of Crimea reminds that from April 17, a special fire-prevention regime has been declared on the territory of the peninsula, during which it is prohibited to make fires and carry out fire-hazardous work.
In case of failure to comply with safety measures, the fines are: for individuals from 10 to 20 thousand rubles, for legal entities from 400 to 800 thousand rubles.— the Main Directorate of the Ministry of Emergency Situations of Russia for the Republic of Kalmykia reminded about the punishment.
In total, 9 criminal cases were opened in 2024: 2 under Article 261 of the Criminal Code of the Russian Federation (provides for liability for the destruction of or damage to forest plantations), 7 under Article 168 of the Criminal Code of the Russian Federation (Destruction of or damage to property through negligence).
