Operation “Pedestrian” is taking place in Crimea. Crosswalk!»

CrimeaPRESS reports:

From December 24 to 27, in order to strengthen preventive work to reduce the accident rate and prevent road accidents involving pedestrians, State Traffic Inspectorate employees are conducting an operational and preventive event in Crimea “Pedestrian. Crosswalk!».

Police pay special attention to the following offenses:

  • crossing the roadway in an unspecified place;
  • crossing the roadway to a prohibitory traffic light sign;
  • failure to comply with requirements to give way to pedestrians at pedestrian crossings;
  • violation of the rules for passing controlled pedestrian crossings.

The State Traffic Inspectorate of the Republic of Crimea appeals to all road users:

Drivers should be extremely careful in areas where pedestrians may appear on the roadway and remember that in adverse weather conditions pedestrians may have limited visibility (hood, etc.), which can lead to a traffic accident; maintain a safe distance, choose a speed limit taking into account weather conditions.

Pedestrians should follow the rules of safe behavior on the road:

  • be as vigilant as possible in the dark and in bad weather conditions. Before entering the roadway, stop, make sure that there is no transport, and if there is, then make sure that the driver sees you and lets you through;
  • in the absence of sidewalks, move along illuminated sections of roads and only towards traffic;
  • when moving in the dark or in conditions of insufficient visibility, give preference to light-colored clothing, be sure to use reflective elements;
  • Remember that the braking distance of a vehicle on wet surfaces increases significantly.
