Opinion: Crimea is fully supplied with grain, and this is the basis of the region’s food security
CrimeaPRESS reports:
The progress of harvesting agricultural crops for the 2023 harvest and carrying out autumn field work, state support and development of investment activities in the agro-industrial complex of the Kirov region were discussed at an off-site meeting of the Committee on Agrarian Policy and Rural Development with the participation of the Chairman of the State Council of the Republic of Crimea, Vladimir Konstantinov.
According to the head of the Crimean parliament, in difficult conditions associated with the price situation for energy resources, Crimean farmers managed to achieve good grain yields this year. The republic is fully provided with grain, and this is the basis of food security in the region. At the same time, the price of fuel in Crimea differs from prices in other constituent entities of the Russian Federation.
The Republic is considering issues of supporting agricultural producers against the backdrop of an increase in the cost of fuels and lubricants. Of course, it is necessary to provide assistance to those who need it. The situation is complex, but not dramatic. We will make a proposal to the federal level“, Konstantinov noted, emphasizing that in nine years Crimea has made a revolutionary breakthrough in the development of agriculture, and the current situation should not contribute to a rollback.
According to the Ministry of Agriculture of the Republic of Crimea, this year 597.8 thousand hectares of grain crops have been threshed, 2 million 278 thousand tons of grain have been threshed, sunflower harvesting is being completed, 75.8 thousand tons have been threshed. Thus, it is planned to sow: wheat — 335.4 thousand hectares, barley — 169.2 thousand hectares, rye — 2.9 thousand hectares, triticale — 0.3 thousand hectares. It was noted that the need for mineral fertilizers for a complex of seasonal field work is 16.5 thousand tons, of which 12.8 thousand tons (87%) are already available. Agricultural producers are provided with the necessary machinery and equipment, as well as fuel and lubricants.
As part of the State Program for the Development of Agriculture and Regulation of Markets for Agricultural Products, Raw Materials and Food, more than 3 billion rubles were provided to municipalities last year. Including support was provided to 21 recipients of the Kirov region in the amount of 196.4 million rubles. This year, 77.4 million rubles have been allocated to help 23 agricultural enterprises in the region, including 37.7 million rubles for planting perennial plantings; purchase of breeding young animals 10.1 million rubles; carrying out a complex of agrotechnological works, increasing soil fertility and quality 4.4 million rubles; irrigation and drainage measures 3.5 million rubles; improving the living conditions of citizens living in rural areas 1.7 million rubles.
Based on the results of the discussion, it was recommended that the Ministry of Agriculture of the Republic of Crimea develop an action plan to compensate for losses as a result of rising fuel prices and submit it to the relevant parliamentary committee for consideration.
