Opinion: despite the cancellation of the May 9 parade, Crimeans will celebrate Victory Day

CrimeaPRESS reports:

How known, the Crimean authorities decided not to hold mass events (parades, processions) on May 1 and 9. The reason is the observance of important security measures (especially since a high “yellow” level of terrorist threat continues to operate in a number of regions of the peninsula). The situation was commented by the speaker of the Crimean parliament Vladimir Konstantinov.

The decision not to hold a military parade and the Immortal Regiment action in the Republic of Crimea on Victory Day was dictated by the times in which we live and agreed with the leadership of our country. But this does not mean at all that we will not celebrate this holiday. Our deputies, United Russia activists, caring Crimeans will improve memorial sites, mass graves, and military graves.

We will hold parliamentary lessons in schools, congratulate veterans, children of the war, and honor the memory of fallen soldiers. We also plan to organize the Candle of Memory campaign, which takes place annually at the Krasny Memorial— said Konstantinov.

According to the chairman of the State Council of the Republic of Crimea, the main condition for holding all events will be the absence of a mass gathering of people, which will allow «to avoid negative consequences.»

Our enemy declares every day about plans to launch an attack on the Crimea, about intentions to harm us. We understand that at the slightest opportunity they will do any nasty things towards us, and we will do everything to prevent this— summed up Vladimir Konstantinov.
