Opinion: environmental friendliness occupies one of the first places in resort development projects in Crimea
CrimeaPRESS reports:
What criteria underlie the implementation of large resort construction projects being implemented in Crimea, and what modern hotels are doing to maintain the environmental balance on the peninsula, said the Minister of Resorts and Tourism of the Republic of Crimea Vadim Volchenko at a federal meeting within the framework of the MITT International Tourism Exhibition in Moscow.
According to the head of the Republican Ministry of Resorts, during the period of intensive construction in almost all spheres of activity of the Republic, including tourism, the environmental friendliness of projects occupies one of the first places.
Modern concepts of sustainable tourism development require maintaining a basic balance between economic and environmental, social and cultural development goals. We take into account the interests of the investor in expanding the scope of activities and increasing the flow of tourists, but do not forget about environmental criteria and norms of anthropogenic loadnoted Vadim Volchenko.
According to him, new modern projects on the peninsula, such as “Golden Sands of Russia”, for the construction of a world-class resort on the western coast of Crimea, are initially aimed at environmental friendliness and the creation of all conditions for recovery without the influence of external unfavorable factors.
Vadim Volchenko noted that many hotels in the republic have already chosen the strategy of “minimum pollution with maximum amenities.” For this purpose, modern technologies for processing waste and plastic are used, electric vehicles are used to move around the recreation area, some health resorts have their own subsidiary farms for growing fruits and vegetables.
Also, the tourism industry in Crimea is increasingly focused on providing conditions for people with limited mobility. For example, Evpatoria and Alupka, which won grants from the National Project “Tourism and Hospitality Industry,” this year improved their historical city centers taking into account environmental standards and convenience for guests with disabilities. The beaches of Crimea are also increasingly expanding such services every year.
Of course, a lot still needs to be done and brought under a common denominator, but the goal should be one — do no harm. Therefore, reducing the anthropogenic load on nature, respect for the environment, cultural and historical heritage, climate and natural resources, with a growing interest in domestic tourism and comfort, must be observed,” emphasized Vadim Volchenko.
Following the meeting, led by First Deputy Chairman of the State Duma Committee on Tourism and Tourist Infrastructure Development Nikolai Valuev, regional industry departments were provided with methodological recommendations on the introduction of sustainable development mechanisms in the hospitality and tourism industry, which will be communicated to the tourism industry in Crimea.
