Opinion: the abolition of roaming for T2 clients in Crimea will attract more tourists
CrimeaPRESS reports:
The press service of the cellular operator T2 (formerly Tele2) TASS reported the abolition of additional fees for the use of communication services in the Republic of Crimea and the city of Sevastopol. The Miranda operator has brought tariffs in the region into line with all-Russian ones; upon arrival in Crimea and Sevastopol, the T2 client automatically connects to the Miranda operator’s network.
The abolition of roaming surcharges on the peninsula responds to the requests of customers who are accustomed to “mainland” tariffs and for whom it is understandable and transparent. These new conditions are especially relevant given the growing popularity of the southern regions as a tourist destination amid restrictions on travel abroad. In January — September 2024, data traffic in Crimea and Sevastopol increased by 52% year-on-yearthe message says.
It is noted that cooperation with T2 will provide subscribers with seamless and roaming-free communication tariffs in the Republic of Crimea and Sevastopol. In addition, thanks to the partnership with T2, Miranda clients do not pay for roaming in all regions of Russia.
At the end of August, the Federal Antimonopoly Service of Russia announced that it had opened cases against telecom operators MTS, Megafon and Beeline over the cost of communication services in Crimea and Sevastopol. If the companies are found to be guilty following the review of antimonopoly cases, they may be fined or ordered to transfer illegally obtained income to the federal budget.
