Opinion: The Great Russian Word festival has long become a platform for expressing one's Russian identity

Today in Simferopol, the opening of the XVI International Festival «The Great Russian Word» took place. The official part of the event was held in the State Council of the Republic of Crimea. During the event, a video message was made by the Chairman of the Federation Council of the Federal Assembly of the Russian Federation Valentina Matvienko.

In turn, the Head of the Republic of Crimea Sergey Aksyonov addressed the Crimeans and noted that the festival has long become a platform for the participants to freely exchange views and express their Russian identity.

At the festival site, everyone always spoke quite openly, many proposals were implemented and brought to life. Together we defended our position, so that the preservation of the centers of Russian culture is the common merit of teachers, public figures and the clergy. Now the festival is taking place at a difficult time for our country. We are opposed to almost the entire Western world in an effort to preserve our culture, traditions and customs. The main thing that the challenges of the time require from us is universal consolidation, support for the actions and decisions of our Leader and, of course, support for the soldiers defending our Motherland from the enemy’s attempts to cancel our Russian identity— said the Head of the Crimea.

According to Sergei Aksyonov, the return of the DPR, LPR, Zaporozhye and Kherson regions to Russia proved that it is impossible to strangle the Russian spirit.

We are fighting for historical truth and we will win thanks to the strength of our people — our entire multinational people, because for the West we are all Russians. This is true. We are one and this is our strength.— added the Head of the Republic.

Sergey Aksyonov thanked the participants and organizers of the festival for their joint work.

Together we will develop new approaches and strategies that will help unite our compatriots around the world. I am sure that we will break through and destroy all blockades and barriers. Long live Russia! Victory will be ours! — said the Head of the Crimea.
