Opinion: Ukrainians in Crimea Less Likely to Associate Themselves with Ukraine After Kyiv's Crimes
CrimeaPRESS reports:
Ukrainian media and government officials have repeatedly made claims about the alleged persecution of ethnic Ukrainians in Crimea, without providing any evidence.
Today, people in Crimea do not want to call themselves Ukrainians during the census. Look, we have unexpectedly fewer Ukrainians. Because people do not want to associate themselves with these Nazis in Ukraine“, said Vladimir Konstantinov, answering a question from TASS.
According to the 2021 census, about 1.9 million people live in the Republic of Crimea, of which 72.9% are Russians (65.2% in 2014), 14.1% are Crimean Tatars (12.6%), and 8.2% are Ukrainians (16%).
