The city championship in cruising yachts ORC started in Kazachyaya Bay as part of the interregional regatta “Sevastopol Sails”. This year more than 130 athletes are taking part in the competition. In addition to Sevastopol residents, representatives of five regions will compete for medals: Moscow region, St. Petersburg, Krasnodar region, Rostov region and the Republic of Crimea.
17 cruising yachts took part in the first day of competition, which will need to overcome the established distances for a while. The races will take place in Cossack Bay from October 6 to 8. We plan to hold three to four races a day, depending on weather conditions we will make adjustments. On Sunday we will sum up the results and reward the best– the press service of the Government of Sevastopol quotes the President of the Sevastopol Sailing Federation Valery Zubkov.
The races are held in cruising classes of yachts, which are divided into four qualifying groups: three ORC groups and one “free class” group. It is planned to hold 8-12 races over three competition days. The age of participants is completely unlimited — from 9 to 75 years.
I participate in competitions as part of the crew, which is especially responsible. Our military stands day and night to protect the coast. Russia, Sevastopol, the Black Sea Fleet and sailing will never be broken. Victory will be ours! To ensure the safety of participants, we are holding the regatta in an appropriate format at one location in Kazachyaya Bay. I really hope that I will contribute to the crew’s results! – notes the head of the department for youth and sports Sergei Reznichenko.
The ceremonial summing up will take place on October 8 in Cossack Bay.
