Otters, seals and penguins are planning to come to Crimea
CrimeaPRESS reports:
The first penguins, as well as clawless Indian otters and Baikal seals, will settle next week in the zoo on the territory of the Bakhchisarai Miniature Park in the Republic of Crimea. About it TASS said park director Viktor Zhilenko.
We are waiting for seven penguins to come to us from Sochi, where they are currently undergoing quarantine. Not every zoo in the world can boast of penguins, and these will be the first penguins for the Crimean zoo. We have been preparing for this project for the last three years, and have created appropriate conditions for the animals.— said Zhilenko.
There are two special enclosures for penguins at the zoo — summer and winter. They will be in one when the sun warms the air above 20 degrees Celsius. The other, an indoor one, has a heated and air-conditioned pool to bring the ambience closer to the South African nature.
Along with the penguins, Baikal seals and Indian clawless otters will arrive from Sochi, for which all conditions for good well-being have also been prepared.
There are otters in Russia, but they are nocturnal predators, they lead an active nocturnal lifestyle, and then sleep all day. But the Indians are the opposite: they will misbehave with us all day, thereby entertaining the guests, and sleep at night. This year the zoo turned 10 years old, and this year is a breakthrough year for us in terms of new inhabitants. Earlier, the hippopotamus Moryachka Sonya arrived from Sochi — this is the first hippopotamus to cross the Kerch Strait on the ferrysaid the director of the park.
Bakhchisarai Park “Crimea in miniature in the palm of your hand” is a miniature park where 86 historical, cultural and architectural sights of Crimea are collected on a scale of 1:25. On the territory of the park there is a zoo with an area of 1.5 hectares, where more than two thousand animals and birds live.
