Out of one of the four Volgonfti-239 reservoirs, fuel oil was pumped out

At Volgoneft-239, the first of four tanks with fuel oil was pumped out. As of 12:00, 30 bitumen carriers with fuel proceeded from the stern of the vessel. They delivered about 500 tons of fuel oil ashore. This is more than a third of the total cargo in the tanker— the department reported.
The work is being carried out day and night; Marine Rescue Service specialists have begun pumping out fuel from the second of the ship’s four tanks.
To ensure uninterrupted supply of fuel oil on the tanker, a technical team is on duty around the clock. The fuel is heated to a temperature of +45 degrees, and then pumped through hoses into sealed bitumen tanks equipped with a heating system. A total of eight pieces of equipment were involved, the department said.
Divers did not find any escape of fuel oil from the Volgoneft-212 tanker that sank in the Kerch Strait, reported earlier in Rosmorrechflot.
The Russian Ministry of Emergency Situations informed that in the water area along the coastal strip, including in the ports of Anapa and Sevastopol, over 16 tons collected oil-containing waste, 925 kilograms of sorbent were used.
The day before, the Russian Ministry of Transport reported that from the Volgoneft-239 tanker off Cape Panagia pumped out 70 cubic meters of fuel oileight bitumen tankers were involved in the work.
