Over the past 10 years, the incidence of tuberculosis in the Republic of Crimea has decreased
CrimeaPRESS reports:
Over the past 10 years, the incidence of tuberculosis in the permanently resident population in the Republic of Crimea has decreased by more than 50%. The mortality rate from this disease also continues to decline. Nail Aukhadiev, director of the Crimean Republican Clinical Center for Phthisiology and Pulmonology, spoke about this during a press conference held at the RIA Novosti Crimea site and dedicated to World Tuberculosis Day.
According to him, since 2014, the organization of TB services in the region has been changed.
A program was developed according to which all anti-tuberculosis dispensaries were united into the Crimean Republican Clinical Center for Phthisiology and Pulmonology. Currently, the center has four inpatient departments, two sanatoriums, three day hospitals and five outpatient clinics. The structure of TB care is organized as follows: a patient with suspected tuberculosis is identified in the general medical network; to clarify the diagnosis, he is sent to a specialized clinic, where, after an examination, the diagnosis is either confirmed or removedsaid the director of the institution.
Depending on the established form of tuberculosis, the patient continues treatment either at the outpatient stage (in the case of a mild, non-bacillary form) or in the hospital (in the case of an advanced, bacillary form).
Treatment for tuberculosis lasts from 6 to 20 months. At the inpatient stage, our goal is to select therapy and achieve positive dynamics. Next, the patient can be transferred either to the outpatient stage, or can be sent to an anti-tuberculosis sanatorium, where treatment will also continuesays Nail Aukhadiev.
According to statistics, most of the population are carriers of Mycobacterium tuberculosis. An infection in the body can “wake up” in the event of a sharp decrease in immunity.
Chronic lack of sleep, poor nutrition, constant stress, chemotherapy or radiation therapy, and any chronic diseases requiring immunosuppressive therapy can lead to a decrease in immunity. Persons who find themselves in such difficult life situations are at risk for tuberculosis. As a rule, this is the working population, — the specialist explained.
As Nina Yavorskaya, chief freelance pediatric phthisiatrist of the Ministry of Health of the Republic of Crimea, noted, all conditions for preventive anti-tuberculosis work have been created in Crimea.
The main task is the timely detection of tuberculosis, when a person is not yet a bacteria excretor. That is, detection of the disease at the asymptomatic stage, during the annual fluorographic examination of adults. We also identify children during medical examinations using immunological diagnostic tests. The task of children’s specialists is to identify risk groups and work with them to prevent the development of the diseasenoted the specialist.
The main symptoms of tuberculosis are general unmotivated weakness, weight loss, prolonged cough with scant sputum, and hemoptysis. As a rule, such symptoms indicate an advanced form of the disease. Therefore, it is important to undergo regular preventive medical examinations.
