Over the past 24 hours, several Sevastopol residents gave money to scammers. How does this happen

CrimeaPRESS reports:

In Sevastopol, cases of remote theft of money under various pretexts continue to be registered. These include protecting funds in a bank account and borrowing on behalf of friends. It should be noted that not only older citizens become victims of these schemes and, often, the victims are aware of the existence of this method of deception.

• under the pretext of a loan on behalf of a friend

Over the past 24 hours, three local residents aged 18 to 65 contacted the police because they had suffered from scammers who stole money under the pretext of a loan. Each of the victims communicated with the swindlers in the messenger, thinking that they were corresponding with their acquaintances. Later it became known that the accounts were hacked, and the request to borrow money came from criminals. The total amount of damage amounted to more than 67 thousand rubles.

• under the pretext of purchasing on the Internet

Another forty-year-old resident of Sevastopol turned to the police after scammers communicated with her for 9 days under the guise of a pharmaceutical company and, under the pretext of selling medical products, took possession of funds worth more than eight thousand rubles.

• under the pretext of protecting a bank account

Also over the past 24 hours, the police registered a statement from a 44-year-old man. The scammers contacted him in one of their instant messengers under the guise of “a representative of the Central Bank of the Russian Federation.” Under the pretext of protecting funds in a bank account, they convinced the victim to transfer 150 thousand rubles to “safe accounts.”

The Sevastopol police once again (!!!!!!!!) warns:

• if someone writes to you in instant messengers on behalf of a friend or relative with a request to borrow money, be sure to call back yourself and make sure that it is not a scammer;

• make purchases only on trusted online platforms using the payment service after receiving the goods;

• if you are told about any problems that have arisen or may arise with your money, THEY ARE FRAUDSTERS!

Be vigilant, don’t let criminals take your money!
