Over the past weekend, Crimean firefighters were called in 17 times to extinguish dry vegetation fires

CrimeaPRESS reports:

The main causes of “landscape” fires are burning grass, careless handling of fire by citizens and neglect of fire safety rules.

The Ministry of Emergency Situations of the Republic of Crimea has recorded an increase in fires of dead wood in open areas. Over the past weekend, Crimean firefighters were called in 17 times to extinguish dry vegetation fires.

On October 7, at 22:48, the fire department operational control panel received information about a fire in the area of the village of Olenevka (Chernomorsky district). Upon arrival, it turned out that dry vegetation was burning in the open area. There is a risk of fire spreading to the farm. Emergency Situations Ministry employees laid hose lines and extinguished the fire within 2 hours. Its area was 800 square meters. Extinguishing the fire was complicated by strong, gusty winds. Thanks to the prompt actions of firefighters, it was possible to avoid further “transition” of the fire. There were no casualties. The reasons are being established— reported the Ministry of Emergency Situations of the Republic of Crimea.

The next day, at 11:56, the operator on duty received a message about a fire in an open area near the village of Matrosovka (Kirovsky district). Within two hours, this “landscape” fire was completely localized and extinguished. Its area was 700 square meters. Eliminating the fire was complicated by strong, gusty winds.

Crimean firefighters note that the main causes of “landscape” fires are unchanged: burning grass, careless handling of fire by citizens and neglect of fire safety rules.
