Over the weekend, Crimean firefighters extinguished more than 20 fires of dry vegetation

Due to dry and windy weather, a large number of fires are recorded on the peninsula every day. For the most part, this is the burning of dry vegetation in open areas. Stopping a well-ignited fire can be very difficult, Crimean firefighters note. The cause of such incidents is almost always the careless handling of fire by people. In such fires, the fire can quickly spread to residential buildings and damage infrastructure, so citizens should pay special attention to fire safety.
On September 29, at 15:52, the operational console of the State Institution of the Republic of Crimea «Fire Protection of the Republic of Crimea» received a message about the fire of dry vegetation in the area of the village. Turgenevka, Bakhchisarai district.
The PCh unit was sent to the scene of the incident. Red Mak State Institution of the Republic of Crimea «Fire Protection of the Republic of Crimea» consisting of 4 people and 1 piece of equipment, as well as employees of the Main Directorate of the Ministry of Emergency Situations of Russia in the Republic of Crimea. Upon arrival, firefighters learned that dry grass and bushes were burning in an open area outside the settlement. Firefighters quickly laid hose lines and, using firecrackers and Ermak backpacks, began to extinguish the fire. According to fire officials, extinguishing was complicated by strong gusty winds, which changed its direction and contributed to the spread of the fire. Within an hour and a half, the fire was localized and extinguished. The area was 900 sq. meters. No injuries— reported the Ministry of Emergency Situations of the Republic of Crimea.
On September 30, the fire department’s operational console received the following signal about a fire in the area of the village. Grushevka (Sudak urban district). Upon arrival of firefighters, it became known that dry vegetation was burning in the open area. Firefighters promptly applied barrel “B” and within 20 minutes extinguished the fire on an area of 100 square meters. There were no injuries; experts are determining the cause.
