Analysts of the state labeling system «Honest Sign» analyzed the volume of production of packaged water in January — June 2024. Thus, in the first half of the year, production amounted to more than 6.3 billion liters, which is 14% more than in the first 6 months of 2023, when water production amounted to 5.5 billion liters.
The Republic of Crimea is in fifth place in the ranking of regions in terms of water production growth over the year. According to the Honest Sign labeling system, 108.5 million liters of water were produced in the region from January to June of this year, which is 46% more than in the same period last year, when 74.3 million liters of water were produced in the Republic of Crimea.
The growth of water production in the region and Russia as a whole is associated not only with the increased demand for drinking water, but also with the high rates of market whitening due to labeling. Due to the withdrawal of counterfeit and fake products, legal producers were able to increase their market share. Thus, during the introduction of labeling on the water market, 460 producers were identified that had not previously reported to any government agency — more than a quarter of the market. Thus, in the Republic of Crimea, 12 water producers came out of the shadows after the introduction of labelingcommented Yulia Kuzmina, head of the department of excise-free food products of the CRPT (Center for the Development of Advanced Technologies).
In Russia, the highest growth rates in water production were recorded in the segment of carbonated mineral natural medicinal water — the increase in production volumes in the country amounted to 32% from 52 million liters in the first half of 2023 to 69 million liters in the same period of 2024.
In second place is carbonated water, the production volume of which in Russia has increased by 30% over the year to 694 million liters. Still drinking water is produced in the largest volume in the country: 4.1 billion liters in the first 6 months of 2024, which is 15% more than in the same period last year.

In Russia, 17 product groups are labeled, and 20 experiments are being conducted. Today, labeling covers more than 19.5% of the country’s non-resource GDP. Thanks to the introduction of the «Honest Sign», the share of illegal goods in the tobacco industry has decreased by a quarter, and in the water market by a third: labeling has identified more than 460 manufacturers who had not previously reported to the authorities. The number of expired drugs has decreased by 3 times, and counterfeit milk has decreased from 30% to 0.2%. The fiscal effect on the country’s budget is estimated at 791 billion rubles.
