“Owners of gambling houses” were punished in Simferopol

In Simferopol, a verdict was passed against eleven Crimeans accused of illegal gambling activities with profit in the amount of 70 million rubles
The Kiev District Court of the city of Simferopol issued a verdict in a criminal case against 11 residents of the region. Depending on their role and degree of participation, they are found guilty under CC. 1, 2 tbsp. 210 of the Criminal Code of the Russian Federation (creation and participation in a criminal community), Part 3 of Art. 171.2 of the Criminal Code of the Russian Federation (illegal organization and conduct of gambling using gaming equipment outside the gambling zone), Part 4 of Art. 150 of the Criminal Code of the Russian Federation (involvement of minors in committing crimes)— reported the Prosecutor’s Office of the Republic of Crimea.
The court established that one of the defendants created and led a criminal community and attracted 30 more people to participate in his illegal actions.
Since mid-2021, the defendants, knowing that gambling was prohibited in the region, placed equipment in 6 premises in the cities of Simferopol, Kerch and Yalta, where they organized gambling.
The illegal activities of the accused were stopped by employees of the internal affairs bodies and the Russian FSB Directorate for the Republic of Crimea and the city of Sevastopol, and gaming equipment was seized from illegal circulation.
As a result of criminal activity, income was received in the amount of more than 70 million rubles.
The court, taking into account the position of the state prosecutor, sentenced the three defendants to 7 years 2 months, 7 years 6 months, 9 years of imprisonment with sentences to be served in a maximum security correctional colony and fines totaling 600 thousand rubles. The remaining defendants were given various terms of imprisonment from 3 years to 3 years 6 months suspended with probation and fines.,” the supervisory agency clarified.
Previously, 10 more members of the criminal community were convicted by the court; the criminal case against the remaining members is under consideration.
