Oxygen-gasification equipment was supplied to the Sevastopol Oncology Center

CrimeaPRESS reports:

For life support systems for patients at the Oncology Dispensary named after. Oxygen-gasification equipment was supplied to A. A. Zadorozhny.

On the one hand, medical gas is a dosage form for life support for patients, on the other hand, it is a technically complex production facility, so the work is carried out within the framework of activities carried out by order of the Unified Directorate of Capital Construction.

For the oncology dispensary, oxygen-gasification equipment for the outer part has now been installed, wiring has been done to the building, and now the process of transferring the first part of the work to the oncology dispensary is underway. In parallel with this, medical and technical specifications are being worked out in an interdepartmental format to carry out gasification inside the building in order to supply oxygen to the beds. We expect to complete the complex of works in 2024, – the press service of the Government of Sevastopol quotes the director of the capital construction department Ivan Pogodin.

The head of the department added that, given the social importance of medical gases in modern medicine, three similar measures were previously implemented: for city hospitals No. 1 and No. 4, and the building of maternity hospital No. 2. At current healthcare facilities under construction and renovation, the connection of the medical gas system is also provided for by the project.

Medical gases come into direct contact with patients. They, as well as their storage and delivery systems, are subject to increased quality and safety requirements.

The complex of works on the design, supply, installation and commissioning of oxygen-gasification equipment of the external part was carried out by the contractor «Medgazstroy».

As part of the state contract for the oncology clinic, the design of external networks of sources of medical oxygen and medical gases was completed, the site of an oxygen-gasification station consisting of four gasifiers of 0.5 tons each was designed and installed. Thus, two tons of medical oxygen will be stored here in a liquid state, then the oxygen will be converted into gas through atmospheric evaporators and delivered through pipes to the final consumer located indoors in the oncology clinic. An emergency ramp was also installed on the site, in which liquefied medical oxygen is stored, and a control panel for the gas station was installed. In addition, an isothermal container was installed in which a compressor and vacuum station was installed, and external networks from the compressor and vacuum were laid. All equipment has undergone commissioning and is ready for commissioning after work on internal networkssays the head of the contracting organization Medgazstroy, Alexander Maleev.

The measures were carried out in the conditions of an existing medical institution and did not interfere with its work.

The most widely used medical gas is oxygen. In oncology, there must be oxygen in every room. Oxygen therapy may be needed during radiation therapy, surgical treatment, and chemotherapy. Also in our clinic there is a large consumption of carbon dioxide, which we use for endoscopic operations. The oncology dispensary is now partially supplied with gas, and today we see the first stage of work, thanks to which the storage and timely supply of medical gases will be ensured to the entire internal gas supply system of the building– commented the head physician of the oncology clinic Vasily Oshchepkov.

Let us remind you that in total, work on 14 healthcare facilities is planned to be completed in 2024.
