Participants of the “Green Square” program of the Meganom Academy created art objects for the WFM
CrimeaPRESS reports:
At the educational program of the Meganom Academy of Creative Industries, the results were summed up and the winners of the All-Russian competition of art objects made from recycled materials “Green Square” were determined. The best works will be presented at the World Youth Festival in Sochi from March 1–7, 2024.
On February 22, the Green Square educational program ended at the Meganom Academy of Creative Industries in Crimea. This program was a logical continuation of the competition from the Russian environmental operator and the Tavrida art cluster, created to remind about environmental problems. The authors of the best projects from all over Russia, under the mentorship of leading experts, created art objects from recycled materials for the future exhibition of the WFM.
An important aspect of the program was not only that the participants were able to turn waste into art objects, but also that the audience was able to look at environmental problems from an aesthetic point of view and think about possible solutions., — said Maria-Nicole Selivanova, program curator, head of the Tavrida art park.
For two weeks, the authors implemented their projects in the workshops of the Meganom Academy. The work used not only recyclable materials provided by the Sborka eco-center, but also solid household waste found by the participants outside the Academy. The goal of each artist was both to bring an idea to life and to express as clearly as possible the environmental problem facing humanity. All projects were made from recycled materials, various waste materials, including broken dishes, old electronics, tetrapacks, fabrics, plastic and natural materials. The concept is based on objects that reflect current environmental problems. The creative process ended up using 15 cubic meters of waste.
At the final of the Green Square educational program at the Meganom Academy of Creative Industries, 16 art objects were selected, which immediately went to Sochi for the World Youth Festival. Among them: the anamorphic installation-illusion “Amur Tiger”, the plastic installation “Year of the Dragon”, the wooden “Carp”, installations from randomly broken dishes “Bound by a Single Purpose” and “Mother Nature”, an art object made from one and a half thousand plastic lids bottles “Man-Made Wonder of the World” and others. In addition to the exhibition at the All-Russian Museum of Decorative Arts, art objects will be presented at the IV competition-biennale “Invented and Made in Russia” of the All-Russian Museum of Decorative Arts, as well as at major Russian and foreign forums and venues.
The Meganom Academy of Creative Industries is a conceptually new educational environment for young representatives of culture, art and creative industries, the core of the Tavrida art cluster (a project of Rosmolodezh). The year-round educational center allows specialists to expand their knowledge and professional competencies under the supervision of recognized leaders in the field and take part in interactive projects prepared in collaboration with leading institutions and corporate partners.
