Pavel Shpikalov from Sevastopol — silver medalist of the Yeisk Cup sailing regatta

CrimeaPRESS reports:

Based on the results of 15 races in the IQF class, the student CSKA sports school (Sevastopol) Pavel Shpikalov became a silver medalist among boys under 17 years old.

Wind conditions were very varied: from 4 to 24 knots, with strong currents. An important factor was the presence of pilengas fish, which the athletes crashed into at full speed, fell, but continued to compete. The fight went on until the very last race in each class. Our athletes have gained good experience in a large fleet. There is something to work on, because the next serious competition is the championship of the Southern Federal District, which will be held in July,” Alexey Tokarev, senior coach and teacher of sailing at the CSKA sports school (Sevastopol), commented on the performance of his players.

Competitions among boys and girls under 15 years old in the Techno sailing board class were a selection for the finals of the Spartakiad of Russian students. In this class, Sevastopol residents Dmitry Bolshenko and Polina Malaya were successful in the competition.

The final sailing competitions of the XII Summer Spartakiad of Russian Students will be held in Taganrog in August.
