Pedophile to be tried in Sevastopol

The prosecutor’s office of the Balaklava district of Sevastopol approved the indictment in a criminal case against a 39-year-old local resident.
He is charged under paragraph «a» of Part 3 and paragraph «b» of Part 4 of Article 132 of the Criminal Code of the Russian Federation (other actions of a sexual nature) and paragraph «b» of Part 4 of Article 131 of the Criminal Code of the Russian Federation (rape). It was established that at various times in 2021-2023, the man, while in the house at his place of residence, committed rape and other acts of a sexual nature with the use of violence against his stepdaughter, who was 11-14 years old at the time. The girl did not talk about what happened, as she was intimidated by her stepfather, but in November 2023, her mother caught the man committing the said illegal actions and called the police. The offender was detained and taken into custody. The investigation was conducted by the Investigative Department for the Balaklava District of the city of Sevastopol of the Main Investigative Directorate of the Investigative Committee of Russia for the Republic of Crimea and the city of Sevastopol, the press service of the Sevastopol prosecutor’s office reported.
The prosecutor’s office sent the criminal case with the approved indictment to the Balaklava District Court of Sevastopol for consideration on the merits. For the totality of the crimes, the accused faces a sentence of up to 25 years in prison.
