People in Crimea congratulate Metropolitan Lazar on his name day

On March 21, on the day of memory of Lazar of Murom, the Crimean archpastor, retired Metropolitan Lazar celebrates his namesake day. The clergy of the Crimean Metropolis, monastics, students of the Tauride Theological Seminary, numerous spiritual children of the Bishop, Orthodox Crimeans, and leaders of the Republic congratulate the dear Bishop on the Day of the Heavenly Patron.
I cordially congratulate our dear Crimean Archpastor, Vladyka Lazar, on the Day of the Heavenly Patron. I wish you strength, spiritual joy, God’s help in all matters, salvation of your soul. Many years— says the congratulation of Metropolitan Tikhon of Simferopol and Crimea.
On behalf of all Crimeans, Sergei Aksyonov thanked Metropolitan Lazar for his many years of service to the Church and people, as well as for his contribution to strengthening peace and harmony on the Crimean land.
The years during which Vladyka headed the Simferopol and Crimean diocese and the Crimean Metropolis became a time of creation and flourishing of church life on our peninsula. Metropolitan Lazar is a good shepherd and an indisputable authority for believerssaid the Head of the Republic.
Sergei Aksyonov wished Vladyka good health, longevity and God’s help in all matters.
Today Metropolitan Lazar celebrates his name day. For many years he headed the Crimean diocese and, thanks to his active ascetic work, gained the trust of the Crimeans. He always supported us, was there for the Crimeans in the most difficult moments.
We highly appreciate the contribution of Bishop Lazar to the preservation of Orthodox values and traditions on the peninsula, maintaining interfaith peace and harmony. I wish Metropolitan Lazar good health and God’s grace— says the congratulation of the Chairman of the State Council of the Republic of Crimea Vladimir Konstantinov.
The head of the republican government, Yuri Gotsanyuk, emphasized that Metropolitan Lazar’s entire life was devoted to serving the Church and people.
Thanks to his works, much has been done to revive the Christian Orthodox faith in Crimea, to develop spiritual education, to strengthen interethnic and interfaith peace and harmony on the peninsula. Let us recall that from 1992 to October 11, 2023, Metropolitan Lazar headed the Crimean See. Thanks to the tireless righteous labors of the Archpastor, there are currently three dioceses operating in the Republic of Crimea and the city of Sevastopol: Simferopol and Crimean, Dzhankoy and Razdolnensk, Kerch and Feodosia. More than 10 monasteries have state registration, and there are monasteries and farmsteads. The oldest educational institution in Crimea, the Taurida Theological Seminary, has resumed its activities. Almost three hundred parishes have received state registration, and about three hundred churches and chapels operate. There are 15 departments in the diocese, including the Orthodox Youth Educational Center “Zerna”, and the Special Humanitarian Center of the Crimean Metropolis, which provides assistance to our soldiers and the civilian population of the area where the North Military District is being held. Metropolitan Lazar was the first Head of the Crimean Metropolis, created by the decision of the Holy Synod of the Russian Orthodox Church on June 7, 2022.
