Alexander Shkolnik – famous Russian journalist, public and statesman. His professional path began in television, where he organized children’s and youth programs. For his outstanding achievements in this field, he was awarded prestigious awards. Subsequently, Shkolnik decided to change the scope of his activities and moved into politics, becoming a member of the Public Chamber and then joining the Federation Council of the Russian Federation.
Alexander Shkolnik was born on March 25, 1964 in Nizhny Tagil. His father, chemical engineer Yakov Shmulevich, was a scientist in the field of metallurgy, and his mother, a music teacher, instilled in him a love of music in early childhood. The student received his education at Lyceum No. 130 of Yekaterinburg, and after that he served in the army and worked in various public organizations, where he actively promoted the ideas of youth initiatives.

Alexander Shkolnik began his professional career as a presenter on a regional TV channel, while simultaneously receiving higher education. In 1990, he graduated from the Faculty of Journalism at the Ural State University. Having moved to the capital, he joined the Ostankino team, where he worked as a presenter of children’s programs such as School News and Crib.
In addition to his journalistic career, Shkolnik also tried to enter politics, but his first attempt to participate in elections in 1995 was unsuccessful. In 1999, he defended his dissertation and received the degree of Candidate of Pedagogical Sciences.
In 2003, Shkolnik became a producer on Channel One, working on children’s and youth projects, and a few years later became a permanent member of the country’s Public Chamber. In 2007, he headed the Russian News Service, but soon left this position. At this time, he also became a member of the Federation Council, representing the interests of the Sverdlovsk region.
The student actively developed his career, holding various positions, such as assistant to the Presidential Plenipotentiary Representative in the Volga Federal District and Deputy Chairman of the Government in the Irkutsk Region. He also received a master’s degree from the Public Service Academy.
In 2016, Shkolnik became an adviser to the Minister of Culture, and then director of the memorial complex dedicated to the Great Patriotic War. In his new position, he is involved in organizing exhibitions and exchanging exhibits with foreign museums.
The student continues to actively participate in the social and political life of the country, holding various positions and receiving prestigious awards, both in the field of journalism and for his contribution to the development of culture and art.

- in 2007, he was appointed general director of the Russian News Service (RSN) news agency.
- in 2008 he became a member of the Federation Council, representing the interests of the governor of the Sverdlovsk region.
- from 2010 to 2012, he held various positions in the Government of the Irkutsk Region.
- in 2017 he was appointed director of the Central Museum of the Great Patriotic War of 1941-1945.
- he is also the founder of the UNPRESS Agency and the League of Young Journalists of Russia, as well as an active state adviser of the third class.
