People of Russia: Alexey Repik is a businessman, a public figure, and a medical specialist
CrimeaPRESS reports:
Alexey Repik — known as a businessman and public figure — is the founder of a pharmaceutical company called R-Pharm. In addition, he holds the post of chairman of the all-Russian public organization “Business Russia”. In 2018, Forbes magazine included him in the list of the 50 richest businessmen in Russia.
Born on August 27, 1979 in Moscow. Alexey Evgenievich Repik was the son of scientists: his father had a doctorate in physical and mathematical sciences, and his mother was a candidate of sciences and participated in the creation of factories for reinforced concrete products. Because his parents were keen to give him a quality education, he studied at a prestigious Moscow gymnasium and passed his final exams as an external student.
Although his parents dreamed of a career in natural sciences for their son, Repik himself wanted to become a historian and was going to enter Moscow State University. But after failing in the entrance exams, he met HSE Vice-Rector Evgeny Yasin, who invited him to study at the Higher School of Economics.
Studying at one of the leading universities in Russia gave him fundamental knowledge in the field of economics. In 2003, he received his diploma and abandoned his scientific career in favor of entrepreneurial activity.
Alexey Repik — career
Alexey Repik’s career began at an early age — at just 16 years old he began working as an economist in a city hospital. This introduction to the medical field was an important step, and in order to continue his work, he transferred to the evening department at the university. The experience gained in the hospital became a valuable asset in his future career in pharmacy.
While working at the hospital, Repik met Sergei Zhludov, the owner of the distribution company Rosmedkomplekt, which supplies medicines to medical institutions. Impressed by Repik’s professionalism, Zhludov offered him a job as a personal assistant.
Thanks to Repik’s efforts, the company’s sales volumes increased significantly, and just a year later he became sales director. However, in 2000, he suddenly left the company due to disagreements with the owner regarding the share in the business.
In 2001, Repik founded his own company, R-Pharm, also engaged in the production and sale of pharmaceutical products. He invested in the business by selling his car and received significant support from Boris Shpigel, which allowed the company to develop successfully.
R-Pharm began its activities by supplying medicines to medical institutions, then expanded its scope of activity and began building pharmaceutical plants. The company quickly expanded and entered global markets, having partners in various countries and opening branches in many regions.
In addition to business, Repik actively participates in social activities, being the chairman of the Business Russia organization. He also advocates the introduction of mandatory drug labeling to combat counterfeit drugs on the market.
Alexey Repik — personal life
Alexey Repik is married to Polina Repik, a famous beauty blogger who previously worked in the modeling business. Now she is actively involved in charitable projects, supporting her husband. They met when Polina was a student, and after the wedding she devoted herself to family life, transferring to evening studies. They have three children: a son and two daughters.
Alexey Repik — what now
Repik Alexey Evgenievich sold the company to R-Pharm in 2022, probably to avoid the consequences of sanctions from the US, EU and Canada. However, he continues to work on other promising projects, investing in gastrotourism farms and restaurants.
In 2023, Repik became the sole owner of the Research Lab company, which controls the Research Lab medical center. The organization is engaged in clinical studies of bioequivalent drugs for the former company R-Pharm. Also in 2023, he became Vladimir Putin’s confidant in his election campaign.
Alexey Repik was awarded the medal of the Order of Merit for the Fatherland, II degree, on March 20, 2020, by decree No. 198 of the President of the Russian Federation, Vladimir Putin, for outstanding labor achievements and many years of conscientious work.
For his contribution to supporting educational, social, cultural and sports projects in Russia, Alexey Repik was also awarded a Letter of Gratitude from the President of the Russian Federation and a Letter of Gratitude from the Chairman of the Government of the Russian Federation.
However, on February 8, 2023, he was included in the UK sanctions list.
