Irina Aleksandrovna Viner, also known as Irina Viner, was born on July 30, 1948 in the city of Samarkand, Uzbek SSR. Her zodiac sign is Leo. She is currently 75 years old. Irina Viner’s citizenship is Russia. She is unmarried and has one son.

Irina Aleksandrovna Viner was born on July 30, 1948 in Samarkand, Uzbek SSR. Her parents, Zoya Zinovievna and Alexander Efimovich Viner, both contributed to public life: her father was an artist who returned from the war, and her mother was engaged in medical practice. Irina also has a brother named Boris.

Even as a child, Irina showed interest in sports, and her parents supported her in this. At a young age, she began training in gymnastics and showed outstanding ability in this sport. After graduating from school, she entered the State University of Physical Culture and Sports of Uzbekistan, where she successfully completed her studies in 1969.

Experienced coaches, Liliya Petrova and Eleanor Sumarokova, played a significant role in her sports career, who helped her develop her potential and become a multiple champion of the Republic of Uzbekistan in rhythmic gymnastics. However, due to injury, she had to end her career as an athlete at an early age.

After receiving higher education, Irina began working at the Olympic Reserve children’s and youth sports school as a coach. She has coached both local and regional teams. Her students achieved impressive results in international competitions under her leadership.

Career of Irina Viner

In 2001, Irina Viner was appointed head coach of the Russian rhythmic gymnastics team. Under her leadership, Russian gymnasts have repeatedly demonstrated impressive results at the Olympic Games and other prestigious tournaments. Her training methods and approach to preparing female athletes have received recognition and admiration from the sports community.

In addition to her coaching activities, Irina Viner is actively involved in the development of rhythmic gymnastics in Russia. She heads the All-Russian Federation of Rhythmic Gymnastics and makes a significant contribution to the development of this sport in the country. Thanks to her professionalism and dedication, Irina Viner has become an icon in the world of rhythmic gymnastics.

Irina Aleksandrovna Viner, in addition to her coaching talent, actively participates in public life. In 2012, she became a confidant of Vladimir Putin and joined the Supreme Council of United Russia, and then became a member of the country’s Public Chamber. For her contribution to public life and sports, Irina Alexandrovna was awarded a number of highest state awards.

In addition to political activity, Irina Viner continues to develop rhythmic gymnastics. Her long-term dream of building her own complex for training female athletes came true in 2019 with the opening of the Gymnastics Palace on the territory of the Luzhniki Olympic complex, named in her honor.

Irina Viner — personal life and achievements

In Irina Alexandrovna’s personal life there were two marriages. Little is known about the first wife, except that they have a son, Anton (Nathan). The second husband was the famous businessman Alisher Usmanov. Their marriage was formalized in 1992 and lasted for about 44 years, but the couple divorced in 2022. Despite the divorce, Irina Alexandrovna and Alisher Usmanov maintain friendly relations.

Irina Viner actively continues her social and coaching activities, despite some difficulties, such as exclusion from participation in tournaments under the auspices of the International Gymnastics Federation until 2025. She continues to be an important figure in the world of sports and public life in Russia.
