People's Museum of the Sevastopol Police (Militia) named after. M.S. Kazakevich celebrates anniversary
CrimeaPRESS reports:
The Governor of the city of Sevastopol, Mikhail Razvozhaev, congratulated the employees of the Ministry of Internal Affairs on the 50th anniversary of the creation of the museum. The Museum of Military and Labor Glory of the Sevastopol Police named after Matvey Kazakevich, a retired police colonel, head of the Crimean police during the Great Patriotic War, participant in the heroic defense of Sevastopol, author of the book “The Police Remains on Post” was opened in 1973. Its location changed several times, and in 2022, by decision of the leadership of the Sevastopol Department of the Ministry of Internal Affairs, the exhibition was moved to a specially built room.
For the anniversary, the People’s Museum of the Sevastopol Police (Militia) named after. M.S. Kazakevich was replenished with new exhibits. Among them is a fragment of the downed Bayraktar unmanned aerial vehicle.
50 years for museums is no longer a short period of time, and the people’s museum has become a favorite not only for law enforcement officers, but for citizens. The collection is constantly being replenished: many Sevastopol residents donate here things of their loved ones, who served at different times in the police, in the police and who dedicated time, work, and sometimes their lives to the service,” the press service of the Government of Sevastopol quotes Governor Mikhail Razvozhaev.
He noted that Sevastopol museums help each other exchange experiences and preserve historical evidence and artifacts for citizens.
We all know the story of the head of the city police department, Vasily Ivanovich Buzin, who served during the Great Patriotic War. In 2009, during the construction of the 35th Coastal Battery memorial complex, search engines found his remains and the Order of the Badge of Honor — the policeman defended Sevastopol to the last and died defending it from enemies. Today his monument stands near the building of the Ministry of Internal Affairs. It is very important to preserve this memory. And it’s wonderful that the museum named after. M.S. Kazakevich accumulates documents and helps us all preserve the memory of the heroic and valiant path taken by employees of the internal affairs bodies of Sevastopolthe governor emphasizes.
In turn, the director of the museum historical and memorial complex to the Heroic Defenders of Sevastopol “35th Coastal Battery” Valery Volodin also emphasized the unity of museums in preserving historical evidence:
Our museums have been friends for a long time and help each other. The surnames that appear in our Pantheon of Memory, including the employees of the museum, help us find them. M.S. Kazakevich.
Today, the museum’s holdings include more than 6.5 thousand storage units, 900 of which are on display. Unique documents, photographs, samples of weapons and uniforms, departmental and state awards reveal the history of the internal affairs bodies of Sevastopol from 1802 to the present day.
The head of the Russian Ministry of Internal Affairs for Sevastopol, police colonel Sergei Sigunov, emphasized that the museum is a landmark place for young people who are starting their career in the internal affairs bodies:
Our museum has two functions: it does not just store historical exhibits, it is also a place for educating young employees. The most significant events have always been held here — I think this tradition will continue, the oath will be taken here. And, of course, we will increase the museum collection.
In conclusion, the cadets of the internal affairs bodies gave the meeting participants a tour of the renovated museum.
