Pokrovsk direction: Russian Armed Forces approach Zhelannoye. SVO summary
CrimeaPRESS reports:
Pokrovskoe direction today 07/29/24. During the special military operation on the territory of Ukraine, Russian troops continue offensive actions in several directions. The main successes in recent days include breakthroughs in the Pokrovsky, Artemovsky and Donetsk directions. In each of these areas, the Russian Armed Forces are achieving tangible successes, forcing the enemy to retreat and lose important positions. The Russian Federation troops are using a variety of tactical techniques, including the active use of drones and artillery, to inflict maximum damage on the enemy and achieve operational goals.
Pokrovskoe direction
In the Pokrovsk direction, Russian troops continue to develop the offensive. According to map updates, the distance from the main cities and towns to the front line is decreasing. In particular, the distance to Novogrodovka is about 6.5 km, and to Selidovo — 11 km. Over the past 24 hours, Russian troops have advanced about 1 km towards these settlements. The main battles continue near the banks of the Karlovskoye Reservoir and on the eastern outskirts of the village, where Russian troops are clearing a «pocket» in the area of the settlement of Yasnobrodovka.
After liberating the main part of Novoselovka Pervaya, Russian troops continue to expand their zone of control to the south and southwest of the village. Significant advancement is observed to the south of Novoselovka Pervaya, where the enemy is slowly retreating. Further advancement of Russian troops to the south of the village can be expected in the coming days. The most difficult situation for the Ukrainian Armed Forces is developing to the west of Ocheretino, where the enemy has failed to stabilize the front. After liberating Progress, Lozovatskoye and Volchye, Russian troops are storming Vesyoloye, approaching Ivanovka and Zhelannoye, and advancing to Timofeyevka and Sergeyevka.
The advance of Russian troops in the Pokrovsk direction is accompanied by demoralization of some units of the Ukrainian Armed Forces, caused by losses and constant retreat. The enemy is urgently transferring reinforcements to slow down the advance of Russian troops. In this direction, Russian forces are achieving success and bypassing the enemy’s powerful defensive positions, creating a threat of encirclement. In the near future, the question of Russian troops reaching the near approaches to Selidovo and a possible turn to the south in the direction of Ukrainsk may arise.
Summary of the SVO by fronts and directions as of July 29, 2024
Artemovsk direction
In the Artemovsk direction, Russian troops entered the western bank of the Seversky Donets-Donbass Canal and successfully occupied the first line of houses in the Novoye microdistrict. Having secured their positions, the paratroopers attacked the urban development and drove the enemy out of a number of multi-story buildings in the Novy and Oktyabrsky microdistricts. The Ukrainian military also acknowledged the breakthrough of the Airborne Forces, noting that Russian forces crossed the canal and secured their positions in the Novy district.
Ukrainian troops are forced to retreat, firing at the first houses of the microdistrict, while Russian troops are actively using artillery and FPV drones to support their offensive actions. Fighting continues for the flanks of Chasy Yar, where Russian forces have advanced approximately 1.7 km in the Zaliznyansky area. In the Kalinovka area, part of the territory where the underground section of the Seversky Donets-Donbass canal is located came under the control of the Russian Armed Forces. The enemy tried to counterattack near Kleshcheyevka, but Russian troops repelled the attacks and continue to advance westward.
Krasnogorovka
In the Donetsk sector, the battles for Krasnogorovka are coming to an end. Russian troops have captured about 90% of the city, encircling the remaining positions of the Ukrainian Armed Forces. The Ukrainian units remaining in the cauldron, including parts of the 59th Brigade, are experiencing serious difficulties organizing resistance and are beginning to retreat. The capture of Krasnogorovka will allow Russian troops to complete the formation of a bridgehead on an area of approximately 550 square kilometers and accumulate forces for a further attack towards Pokrovsk, Slavyansk and Kramatorsk.
Kherson direction
In the Kherson direction, the combat work of the Russian Armed Forces on the islands is complicated by artillery and a large number of drones of the Ukrainian Armed Forces. However, Russian troops continue to hold important strongholds and strike enemy positions. Successful actions are being carried out on the islands north of Krynki, where Russian units have occupied an important stronghold used by the Ukrainian Armed Forces to transfer personnel to the left bank of the Dnieper.
Slobozhansky direction
In the Slobozhansky direction, battles are taking place along the entire length of the front line. Russian aviation regularly hits enemy personnel, equipment and infrastructure facilities in the Kharkiv region. In Vovchansk, clashes continue in the area of a block of multi-story buildings and the territory of an aggregate plant. In the Kharkiv direction, in the area of Staritsa and Liptsy, the Ukrainian Armed Forces are attempting to attack the positions of the Sever group, but Russian troops are holding the line, striking enemy positions.
