Police of the Republic of Crimea reminds of rules for preventing counterfeiting
CrimeaPRESS reports:
The Crimean police note: counterfeiting is a crime that consists of the production or distribution of counterfeit banknotes, the purpose of which is to deceive people and obtain illegal benefits.
Recently, the spread of counterfeiting has been greatly affected by the development of computer technology and the availability of sophisticated printing and office equipment. The use of modern technical means by criminals in the production of counterfeit banknotes and forms of securities that have a fairly high similarity to the genuine ones causes certain difficulties in identifying counterfeits.
An analysis of solved criminal cases related to the sale of counterfeit banknotes allows us to conclude that most crimes are quickly solved thanks to the correct initial actions of citizens who recognized the counterfeit, remembered the signs and promptly reported the fact of sale to the district department of the Ministry of Internal Affairs.
Typical places of sale are markets, commercial kiosks, gas stations, small businesses. Due to the increased quality of counterfeit money and the lack of knowledge of the signs that allow distinguishing a genuine banknote from a counterfeit, such banknotes are usually detected only when recounting banknotes in banks.
To avoid becoming a victim of counterfeiters and to avoid finding yourself in an unpleasant situation, you must follow these rules:
– do not exchange banknotes with strangers;
– when selling a car or real estate, it is better to check the cash received at the bank;
– do not buy currency from “money changers”, even if they offer an exchange rate that is more favorable;
– if you find a banknote of dubious quality, do not try to sell it, this is already a crime, contact the police immediately;
– when shopping at the market, be very careful with money;
– when withdrawing money from an ATM, keep the receipts;
— If someone is trying to sell you a counterfeit banknote and you notice it, try to remember the signs of the seller and the signs of the people he communicates with, the vehicle he arrived in, and call the police.
The main distinguishing features of counterfeit banknotes:
– the counterfeit banknote is glued together from two sheets of paper, so it is denser to the touch and shows signs of delamination;
– the numbers 1000 punched out by the punch feel rough to the touch, as if paper had been pierced with a needle;
— the metal diving security thread looks like a dotted line when viewed through the light and is made with paint;
– when changing the angle of inclination, moire stripes do not appear, and the field is smooth to the touch;
If you have become a victim of fraudsters or have noticed the fact of counterfeit money being sold, immediately contact the police by calling 102. Open 24 hours a day.
