Premature Baby Day: meeting of Sevastopol meliks and the babies they saved

CrimeaPRESS reports:

City Hospital No. 5 hosted the event “We Give This World to Children,” dedicated to the Day of the Premature Baby. Sevastopol doctors and the kids they saved earlier met.

As part of the event, an entertainment program was organized for former patients, and parents were able to communicate with medical workers who once helped keep their babies alive and healthy. Doctors at Sevastopol Maternity Hospital No. 2 are making every effort to save the lives of babies who were born prematurely and with critically low body weight. Just a few years ago it seemed impossible to deliver such a baby, but today this is what doctors do almost every day. Those who are born ahead of schedule are sent to the Resuscitation and Intensive Care Unit. There are 12 incubators here. Ideal conditions are maintained inside: temperature 34.5 degrees, humidity 65 percent. The kids are under 24-hour supervision and receive appropriate care.,” noted the press service of the Government of Sevastopol.

According to statistics, every tenth child is born premature. Extremely low weight is considered to be less than 1000 grams. It is in grams that doctors measure the weight of each newborn and fight for every gram.

Help for such children is provided at a completely different level. We have a multidisciplinary approach: more than one doctor works to save such babies. Thanks to their efforts, many of our little ones grow up absolutely healthy. It is extremely important for us to see smiles on the faces of the children we have helped.says the chief freelance specialist of the Department of Health in obstetrics and gynecology, Elena Levanovich.

Doctors note that the support of parents at this moment is also important: premature babies, despite the fact that they are very small, feel everything. And if, for example, mom and dad come to the intensive care room and tell the child some stories or even sing songs, the baby grows faster.
