Preventing ATM Theft: Don't Leave Money Unattended
CrimeaPRESS reports:
ATMs are convenient devices, but they can be a target for thieves, especially if you leave your money unattended or leave before the transaction is complete.
How to protect yourself from ATM theft:
• Do not leave money unattended: as soon as you receive money, immediately take it and put it in your wallet or bag.
• Be aware of your surroundings: look around before taking money and don’t be distracted by outside requests.
• Use ATMs in crowded places: Avoid using ATMs in lonely places where you may be ambushed.
• Don’t trust strangers: Don’t answer questions or give in to requests for help from strangers.
• Use ATMs inside banks: Using ATMs located inside banks is safer as they are often equipped with video surveillance systems.
• Do not use ATMs with malfunctions: If you notice any malfunctions with the ATM, such as a broken keypad, do not use it.
What to do if you become a victim of ATM theft:
• Immediately call the police on 102, which operates 24 hours a day: report the theft and describe the appearance of the criminals, if you saw them.
• Preserve evidence: record the time and place of the incident.
It is important to remember:
• ATM theft is a common occurrence, so it is important to be vigilant and follow safety rules.
• Do not leave money unattended and do not trust strangers.
• In the event of a theft, act quickly and decisively to minimize damage.
Take care of your money and be careful!
