Project «Formation of a comfortable urban environment»: public gardens are being improved in Sevastopol

The progress of work on the improvement of territories that won last year’s vote in the framework of the federal project «Formation of a comfortable urban environment» of the national project «Housing and urban environment» was checked by Yegor Suslin, deputy director of the institution «Parks and squares».

The work was tested in two locations: the square near the Central Market and the green area between buildings No. 32 and No. 26 on Oktyabrskoy Revolyutsii Avenue.

Construction and installation work in the park near the market began recently, but the covering has already been dismantled, and the trees have been protected from damage. The green zone includes planning the territory to create a barrier-free environment for all groups of residents, replacing and installing new hard tile covering, organizing quiet and passive recreation areas, installing benches and urns, removing dead wood, planting and sanitary pruning of green spaces, installing outdoor lighting, video surveillance and notification, and watering green spaces.

The pavement for pedestrian paths is provided with tiles, on a cement-sand mixture. Also, the curbstone on the paths of movement of people with limited mobility will be lowered, joining different surfaces at one level— the press service of the Government of Sevastopol quotes Yegor Suslin.

On Oktyabrskoy Revolyutsii Avenue, the design solutions also provide for the planning of the territory to create a barrier-free environment. The old asphalt concrete pavement will be dismantled, sidewalks with artificial paving stone will be installed, quiet and passive recreation areas will be organized, street furniture, small architectural forms, and fences will appear. New plants will be planted here, irrigation systems will be arranged, and video surveillance and notification systems will be installed.

To ensure people’s safety, the road from the avenue to the kindergarten will not be straight, but winding, so that motorists will not have the desire to drive recklessly, – notes the director of the contracting organization, Alexander Puzyrev.
