Prospects for landscaping the city and surrounding areas were discussed in Sudak

CrimeaPRESS reports:

At School No. 4 in the city of Sudak, representatives of the administration, students and teachers of the school, the Public Council and youth activists, together with representatives of the Tavrida art cluster (a project of Rosmolodezh), discussed the prospects for landscaping the territory of the urban district. The reason for the discussion was the upcoming Green Festival, which on October 28 will bring together in Kapsel Bay everyone who wants to contribute to the formation of new forest plantations.

When one person plants a tree, it is very difficult to grow a grove. But if everyone plants at least one tree, you can definitely grow not just a grove, but a whole forest, — Sergei Pershin, head of the Tavrida art cluster, addressed the meeting participants. — There are certainly many places for landscaping in Sudak, but we decided to start with the most difficult challenge green the deserted Kapsel Bay. We want Sudak to become greener not only inside the urban area, but also around it, so that this greenery pleases the eye, inspires and impresses. It is impossible to do this alone, so we invite everyone around us to do it together. For our part, we have already attracted the Ministry of Natural Resources and Ecology and large forest protection organizations. But still this is not enough. It is necessary that every resident of Sudak and the entire Crimean Peninsula be involved in this project. I am sure that one thing inspires, which launches a whole chain of other things. And if the desert turns green, everything around will definitely bloom.

The idea of landscaping was also supported by the Head of the Sudak Administration, Konstantin Podsevalov. In his speech, he noted that in the city district there are many free spaces in which alleys and parks can be planted. In particular, the immediate plans include landscaping the park near the Hill of Glory.

Popular Crimean blogger, writer and local historian Ivan Kovalenko gave a brief excursion into the history of the Crimean peninsula and talked about how green spaces were created in Crimea. In the presentation, he presented the oldest trees growing on the peninsula and being its heritage. Viewers learned about the important role of Sudak in the history of landscaping in Crimea:

Crimea remained treeless until about the 1780s, when the Russian Empire came here. It was in Sudak that the Directorate of State Parks and Gardens was founded, which began planting trees around the settlement. From here the forest began to spread throughout Crimea and beyond, turning the peninsula into “the most important diamond in the crown of the Russian Empire.” Sudak was also a leader in the Soviet-era landscaping program. Therefore, now we have the opportunity to all together begin the third round in the afforestation of Crimea, again from Sudak. And after many centuries, people will rejoice that you and I gave life to these trees.

Director of School No. 4 Yulia Sobko shared her experience of landscaping the school grounds and involving students and teaching staff in the environmental agenda. At the end of the meeting, Sofia Yudina, deputy head of Tavrida.ART for the development of the youth tourism and educational cluster, presented the Green Festival, told what awaits the guests, and invited everyone to take part in the event.
