Not a single Crimean summer goes by without a raspberry harvest. It is gratifying to see that farmers have harvested 20 tons of raspberries to date. In general, both large and small agricultural enterprises, as well as peasant farms in the Sovetsky, Simferopolsky, Nizhnegorsky, Krasnoperekopsky, Dzhankoysky, and Belogorsky districts, are engaged in raspberry cultivation in Crimea. However, the largest areas of raspberries are concentrated in the Bakhchisaray district and occupy more than 12 hectares. The planned volume of raspberry production in Crimea is expected to be at the level of last year and will amount to about 92 tons from an area of 38 hectares.— commented the acting Minister of Agriculture of the Republic of Crimea, Alime Zaredinova.
Alime Zaredinova also reported that along with raspberries, the republic is actively harvesting blackberries.
The blackberry harvest is expected to be good this year. In 2 weeks, more than 26 tons of berries have already been collected from an area of 8 hectares. In Crimea, blackberries grow on an area of 35 hectares. Basically, Crimean farmers grow one of the most popular varieties — Thornfree. This is a dessert variety, with large black berries and thick shoots without thorns. The leaders in blackberry production are the Bakhchisarai and Belogorsk districts— the acting minister said.
In 2023, 224 tons of sweet berries were harvested from an area of 31 hectares in the Republic of Crimea. In 2024, the area under berry crops increased and amounted to about 153 hectares. The total area of fruit and berry crops in the Republic of Crimea is more than 15 thousand hectares. In 2023, farms of all types of ownership harvested more than 197 thousand tons of fruit and berry products. It is worth noting that, as part of the implementation of the State Program for the Development of Agriculture, about 387 thousand rubles were allocated for the development of berry crops in 2024. These funds were allocated to farmers for the establishment of perennial plantings, including the installation of trellises and (or) anti-hail nets.
