Rating: in October, Russians “transferred” mainly to Chinese crossovers

The most popular crossover in Russia, notes Motor, became “Chinese”. In the October bestseller ranking, Haval Jolion, which is produced in the Tula region, took first place, as evidenced by Avtostat statistics. Second and third places went to the SUVs of the Lada Niva family: last month almost the same number of Niva Travel and Niva Lagend were sold.

Next come the Chery crossovers, and the ranking is completed by two Geely models. In October, Russians mainly switched to Jolion — 6,270 new Chinese crossovers were registered, which is 105.6 percent more than in the same month of 2022. Lada Niva Travel and Lada Niva Legend sold 4,575 and 4,229 units respectively — demand for Niva Travel increased by 105.2 percent compared to last year, and for Niva Legend by 119.6 percent. The top 5 in terms of the number of units sold also included the Omoda C5, which has been on the Russian market for less than a year: this model finished the month with 3,780 units.

Fifth and sixth places went to Chery Tiggo 4 Pro and Tiggo 7 Pro Max. The result of the “junior” crossover was 3,712 units sold, and the “senior” crossover – 3,708 units. In seventh and eighth places are two Geelys — Monjaro (3,477 units) and Coolray (3,035 units), with the latter selling 117.7 percent better last month than a year earlier.

By the way, if we talk about Chinese cars, then in 2023 the automakers of the Celestial Empire “released” another of their brainchild to the Russian market: the first-born of the Chinese brand Jaecoo (which is in fact part of the Chery family) — the J7 crossover — was presented to a wide circle. Experts predict a promising future for this “Chinese” on Russian roads. Taking into account the fact that the new product has several competitive options at once, when compared with its class colleagues, and price in Russia Jaecoo j7 quite adequate for this kind of crossover.

As for the pricing policy in the Russian car market as a whole, experts recommend not delaying the purchase of cars. They say that prices in 2024, of course, will directly depend on the ruble exchange rate. However, you shouldn’t expect the numbers on the price tags to go down.
