Reclamation of a solid waste landfill has been completed in Kerch
CrimeaPRESS reports:
On the territory of the municipality of the Kerch urban district of the Republic of Crimea, an important stage in the reclamation of the solid waste landfill has been completed.
This process is a set of measures aimed at restoring the ecosystem and improving the condition of the land,” said First Deputy Minister of Construction and Architecture of the Republic of Crimea Alexander Reznikov.
The construction of the facility was carried out as part of the implementation of the state program of the Russian Federation “Socio-economic development of the Republic of Crimea and the city of Sevastopol, in accordance with the municipal contract dated June 27, 2022, concluded by the customer — the Department of Utilities and Capital Construction of the Administration of the City of Kerch of the Republic of Crimea with the contractor LLC «BMT-service». The contract value is 658.91 million rubles.
As a result of the work performed, the former landfill was transformed into a hill, which is now protected by nine layers of protective materials that prevent moisture from penetrating the soil. The top layer, which has fertile properties, is sown with herbs, this will help return natural vegetation to the land.
In addition, during the reclamation process, a drainage system surrounding the area was developed. This system not only effectively removes water from the landfill, but also collects the liquid in three tanks where filtration processes are carried out. After this, the purified water can be used for technical needs, which further reduces the load on the region’s water resources.
Alexander Reznikov also noted that the completion of the reclamation of the solid waste landfill was a significant contribution to improving the environmental situation in the eastern part of Crimea.
This event not only helps to improve the environmental situation, but also creates conditions for sustainable environmental management in the future. Reclamation allows you to restore damaged ecosystems and cleanse areas of pollution. Such steps are part of a broader strategy to protect the environment and conserve natural resources, — emphasizes the First Deputy Minister.
Let us remind you that this year the reclamation of the solid waste landfill in Old Crimea was successfully completed. In the future, within the framework of the state program, it is planned to implement a project for the reclamation of the MSW landfill in Alushta.
In addition, in the Saki, Belogorsky and Leninsky regions of Crimea, work is actively underway on the construction of three eco-technoparks: in the Saki region with a capacity of 200 thousand tons per year, in the Belogorsky region — 500 thousand tons, and in the Leninsky region — 160 thousand tons. These initiatives aim to improve waste management and create a more sustainable environmental infrastructure in Crimea.
